On October 26, 2018, the Supervision and Evaluation Team of the Nanning Municipal Education Bureau for Enhancing the Quality of Senior High School Teaching and Learning, led by Vice Principal Fang Yan of Yongning High School—the team leader—visited our school to conduct a supervisory evaluation.
The evaluation team convened an initial briefing session to hear a report on the school’s educational and teaching activities. At the assessment briefing, Principal Yang Zhenyi of the high school division delivered a report on behalf of the institution. Principal Yang provided a comprehensive overview across six key areas—moral education, meticulous management, curriculum reform, incentive mechanisms, pedagogical research, and professional development—and also presented the school’s 2018 college entrance examination results along with its preparation plan for the 2019 exam.
In his concluding report, Principal Yang stated that, under the leadership of the Nanning Municipal Education Bureau and the guidance of Principal Huang Can, our school has steadily strengthened its management and continuously improved the quality of its teaching and learning in recent years. Taking this municipal supervisory evaluation as an opportunity, the school will further enhance its management, deepen educational and teaching reforms, and consistently raise the standard of education, striving to achieve the school’s ambitious goals.
After listening to the briefing, the evaluation team observed a classroom session in Senior Year 3, Science Class 1. Teacher Lu Weimin of the senior high school department conducted a biology review lesson using the Green Classroom teaching model, presenting it to the evaluation team’s leaders, several members of our school’s administration, and the students of Senior Year 3, Science Class 1. Teacher Lu’s solid subject expertise and extensive teaching experience left a favorable impression on the evaluation team. The team members generally agreed that, despite the lesson’s substantial content and broad scope, Teacher Lu maintained clear thinking, organized his presentation logically, emphasized key points, effectively addressed challenging concepts, and designed exercises closely aligned with the college entrance examination. The class featured a large number of questions, high student engagement, effective group collaboration, and an energetic, lively atmosphere—making it a highly efficient review session for the Gaokao.
Following the classroom observations, the evaluation team convened a symposium with selected teachers and students from the high school division, distributed survey questionnaires, and extensively sought and collected their feedback. On this basis, the team also conducted on-site inspections of the school’s teaching facilities, campus environment, and cultural development, and visited the high school’s campus‑culture display boards as well as the corridor‑mounted exhibits produced by each class. The vibrant campus and classroom cultures, coupled with the aesthetically pleasing campus setting, left a favorable impression on the evaluation team’s leadership.
Finally, the evaluation team convened a feedback session to summarize and share its findings. At the session, the team leader, Vice Principal Fang of Yongning High School; Director Zhou Bing of the Secondary Education Division at the Nanning Institute of Educational Sciences; and several other members of the evaluation team each delivered remarks. They all expressed high praise for both our school’s educational and teaching practices and its administrative management. The evaluation team concluded that Guangxi Foreign Languages Institute Affiliated Experimental School boasts distinct institutional characteristics, with teaching and administrative practices that are standardized, meticulous, and well‑grounded. The school fosters a positive spirit among teachers and students, and teachers report a strong sense of professional fulfillment. The school leadership is both visionary and pragmatic, driving steady and dynamic progress in curriculum reform, which has put the school on a new path of sustainable development. Preparations for the college entrance examination are thorough and well‑organized, guided by sound strategic principles. The team also showed particular interest in our school’s teaching reforms, especially those related to the Japanese‑language program and the minor‑language programs. Some members of the evaluation team indicated their willingness to collaborate in the future, sharing in the fruits of our pedagogical innovations. In addition, the evaluation team offered valuable insights into areas where our school still faces challenges—both in education and administration—and put forward numerous constructive recommendations for the institution’s future development. On behalf of the school, Vice Principal Lu Hanzhong of the main campus delivered a statement outlining the school’s response to the evaluation findings.
The evaluation briefing and feedback sessions were chaired by Vice Principal Tang Bangping of the High School Division, with Director Li Weiping and Deputy Director Liang Hanxin of the General School’s Academic Affairs Office attending the briefing and feedback sessions, respectively.
